CHARLES BROWNE FLEET
(For twenty-three years Secretary of the Virginia Pharmaceutical Association.)
Charles Browne Fleet died at his residence on Harrison Street, Lynchburg, Va., May 12, 1916. Mr. Fleet was born September 18, 1843, in King and Queen County, Va., and spent his early days in that community. He was a student at Columbian (now George Washington) University at the outbreak of the Civil War, and he enlisted and served until the surrender with Braxton's Battery of Fredericksburg, Va. After the war Mr. Fleet lived a while at Charlottesville, Va., from which city he moved to Lynchburg, January 1, 1869. He succeeded to the drug business of T. N. Simpson, which he conducted for forty-two years, giving this up to engage in the business of manufacturing chemist, in which he was engaged at the time of his death. He was widely known as a pharmacist and a chemist, *rving for twenty-three years as Secretary of the Virginia Pharmaceutical Association; was a member of the Board of Pharmacy of Virginia for twelve years, and served twice on the Committee on Revision of the U. S. P. He "as an active member and past commander of the Garland-Rhodes Camp, t C. W. He was a faithful and loyal member of the Baptist Church from his early boyhood, and was teacher of the Men's Bible Class for many years Prior to his death. Mr. Fleet married Miss Emma Burrus February 15, 1870, and he is survived by her and the following children: Paul, Mrs. M. D. Morton, Misses Katherine and Caroline of Lynchburg, and Arthur H. of Milwaukee, Wis.
