Zentralbild Kohls-Löwe 25.4.1962 Vorbeugende Maßnahmen gegen Ruhr Zur Bekämpfung der Ruhr wird in Berlin mit der Ausgabe eines Phagen-Präparates begonnen. Für die prophylaktischen Maßnahmen kommen Personen in Frage, die an Ruhr erkrankt waren, die mit Ruhrerkrankten Kontakt hatten oder die in Betrieben arbeiten, von denen aus eine Verbreitung leicht erfolgen kann. Phagen sind "Bakterienfresser", virenähnliche Gebilde, die Bakterien angreifen und vernichten können. UBz: Im Berliner Org.-Büro der Friedensfahrt im Walter-Ulbricht-Stadion wurde bereits am 24.4.1962 mit der vorbeugenden Phagen-Schluckimpfung für alle an der Friedensfahrt beteiligten Personen begonnen.

Those eligible for the prophalactic measures are those who have sickened with diptheria, those who have had contact with people who were ill with diptheria, and those in areas of work from which diptheria could easily spread. Phages are "bacteria-eaters", virus-like things which can attack and destroy bacteria.
