English: April 16, 1997, on board USS Benfold (DDG-65) The Arleigh Burke-class destroyer Benfold fires its 5″/54 MK 45 gun during routine training operations off the coast of Southern California. The MK 45 provides surface combatants with accurate naval gunfire against fast, highly maneuverable surface targets, air threats and shore targets.
