Augusta University is a public research university and medical center located in Augusta, Georgia, United States. It is one of the four public research universities in the University System of Georgia. Augusta University specializes in health science education but also offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs across various fields.

History

Augusta University was founded in 1828 as the Medical Academy of Georgia, making it one of the oldest medical schools in the United States. It underwent several name changes and expansions over the years. In 2015, it was renamed Augusta University after consolidating with Augusta State University. This merger expanded the university's offerings beyond health sciences to include a broad spectrum of undergraduate programs.

Campus

The main campus of Augusta University is located in Augusta, Georgia, and includes the Medical College of Georgia, the nation's ninth-largest and 13th oldest medical school. The university also operates several satellite campuses across Georgia, including the Health Sciences Campus in Augusta, which houses the medical college and the dental college, among other health-related programs.
