Critical Care Medicine is a peer-reviewed monthly medical journal covering all aspects of critical care medicine. It was established in 1973 and is published by the Society of Critical Care Medicine. The editor-in-chief is Timothy G. Buchman (Emory University School of Medicine).

History

The journal was established in 1973 by the Society of Critical Care Medicine. It was initially published quarterly, but due to its increasing popularity and the growing field of critical care medicine, it became a monthly publication in 1977.

Scope

The journal publishes articles on all aspects of acute and emergency care for the critically ill or injured patient. This includes original research, review articles, and case reports. The journal also publishes guidelines and consensus statements from the Society of Critical Care Medicine and other professional organizations.

Abstracting and indexing

The journal is abstracted and indexed in PubMed, Scopus, and the Science Citation Index. According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2019 impact factor of 6.312.

Editorial board

The current editor-in-chief is Timothy G. Buchman, who is affiliated with the Emory University School of Medicine. The editorial board consists of experts in the field of critical care medicine from around the world.
