Circulation is a scientific journal published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins for the American Heart Association. The journal publishes articles related to research in and the practice of cardiovascular diseases, including observational studies, clinical trials, epidemiology, health services and outcomes studies, and advances in applied (translational) and basic research.

History

Circulation was established in 1950. The journal's first editor-in-chief was Robert N. Noyes. The current editor-in-chief is Joseph A. Hill, who took over in 2016. The journal is published in English and issues are released weekly.

Content

The content of Circulation includes original research manuscripts, review articles, and editorials. The journal also publishes 'Clinician Update' articles, as well as content from the American Heart Association's clinical and scientific councils.

Impact

Circulation is considered one of the leading journals in the field of cardiology. According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2019 impact factor of 23.603, ranking it second out of 136 journals in the category "Cardiac & Cardiovascular Systems".
