Glesga; Scottish Gaelic: Glaschu) is the most populous city in Scotland and the fourth most populous city in the United Kingdom. It is situated on the River Clyde in the country's West Central Lowlands.

History[edit]

Glasgow's history dates back to prehistoric times, with evidence of settlements in the area. The city grew significantly during the Middle Ages as a religious center, with the establishment of the University of Glasgow in 1451 marking a significant development.
