Splatter
Splatter is a subgenre of horror film that deliberately focuses on graphic portrayals of gore and violence. Romero to describe his film Dawn of the Dead.

The genre gained prominence in the 1960s and 1970s with the works of directors like Herschell Gordon Lewis, who is often referred to as the "Godfather of Gore." His film Blood Feast (1963) is considered one of the first splatter films.
