Psi-DOM is a psychedelic drug that is similar in structure to mescaline and DOM. It was first synthesized by Alexander Shulgin and described in his book PiHKAL.

History[edit]

Psi-DOM was first synthesized by Alexander Shulgin, a renowned chemist and psychopharmacologist. Shulgin's work in the field of psychedelic research led to the discovery and synthesis of many new substances, including Psi-DOM. His findings were published in his book PiHKAL, which stands for Phenethylamines I Have Known And Loved.

Chemistry[edit]

Psi-DOM is a phenethylamine derivative and is structurally similar to other psychedelic drugs such as mescaline and DOM. It is part of the DOx family of compounds, which are known for their potent psychedelic effects.

Pharmacology[edit]

Like other psychedelic drugs, Psi-DOM is thought to exert its effects primarily through interaction with the serotonin system in the brain. It is believed to act as an agonist at the 5-HT2A receptor, which is involved in the regulation of mood, anxiety, and perception.

Effects[edit]

The effects of Psi-DOM are similar to those of other psychedelic drugs. These can include alterations in perception, mood, and thought, as well as physical effects such as increased heart rate and blood pressure. The duration of effects is typically longer than that of many other psychedelics, lasting up to 16 hours in some cases.

Legal status[edit]

The legal status of Psi-DOM varies by country. In many places, it is considered a controlled substance and its possession, manufacture, or distribution may be illegal.
