Christian Drosten

Christian Drosten is a German virologist who specializes in the field of novel viruses. Born in 1972, Drosten has made significant contributions to the medical field, particularly in the area of coronavirus research.

Early Life and Education

Drosten was born in Lingen, Germany. He studied medicine at the Goethe University Frankfurt and later specialized in virology. He received his doctorate in 2003 from the University of Bonn.

Career

Drosten has had a prolific career in virology. He is known for his work on the SARS virus and was part of the team that first identified and diagnosed it in 2003. He has also made significant contributions to the understanding of the MERS virus.
