History[edit]

The MGM Grand Las Vegas opened its doors on December 18, 1993. Originally designed as a Hollywood-themed resort, it was the largest hotel complex in the world at the time of its opening. The property was developed by MGM Resorts International, a leading global hospitality and entertainment company.

The hotel was initially themed around the Wizard of Oz, with a yellow brick road and an Emerald City motif. However, this theme was later removed in favor of a more modern and luxurious aesthetic.

Architecture and Design[edit]

The MGM Grand is notable for its striking green color and its massive size. The main building is 30 stories tall and features a distinctive emerald green facade. The hotel complex includes five outdoor pools, rivers, and waterfalls that cover 6.6 acres, a convention center, the MGM Grand Garden Arena, and the Grand Spa.
