Gyeonggi Province
Gyeonggi Province is the most populous province in South Korea. The provincial capital is Suwon. Gyeonggi Province is home to the Korean Demilitarized Zone, the Seoul Capital Area and many significant historical sites.
History[edit]
Gyeonggi Province was formed in 1018 during the Goryeo Dynasty. It was a key region for trade and cultural exchanges due to its location between the capital and the port cities.
Geography[edit]
Gyeonggi Province is surrounded by the Yellow Sea to the west, and the cities of Seoul and Incheon to the northwest. The province is divided into numerous cities and counties, each with its own unique attractions and characteristics.
Economy[edit]
Gyeonggi Province is the heart of South Korea's industry, technology, and education. It is home to the Pangyo Techno Valley, a hub for IT companies, and the Samsung Electronics headquarters.
Culture[edit]
Gyeonggi Province is rich in cultural heritage and traditions. The province is known for its traditional Korean folk music, and the Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Cuisine[edit]
The province is famous for its unique and delicious food. Some of the popular dishes include Suwon galbi, a type of grilled beef ribs, and Yeonan Budu, a fish sauce made in the coastal areas.
