Moon pool

Moon pool is a feature of marine and underwater engineering, also used in some larger, ocean-going ships and submarines. It is an opening in the base or floor of the hull, platform, or chamber giving access to the water below, allowing technicians or researchers to lower tools and instruments into the sea.
