Bavarian Nordic is a biotechnology company specializing in the research, development, and manufacture of innovative vaccines to prevent and treat infectious diseases and cancer. The company is headquartered in Kvistgaard, Denmark, with additional operations in the United States and Germany.

History[edit]

Bavarian Nordic was founded in 1994 with the aim of developing and commercializing new and improved vaccines. The company has since grown to become a global leader in the field of immunotherapy and vaccine development.

Products[edit]

Bavarian Nordic's product portfolio includes vaccines for smallpox and monkeypox, prostate cancer, and HIV. The company's smallpox vaccine, IMVAMUNE, is approved in the European Union, Canada, and the United States. The company is also developing a novel vaccine for the prevention of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).

Research and Development[edit]

Bavarian Nordic's research and development efforts are focused on the use of its proprietary MVA-BN technology platform, which is based on a modified version of the Vaccinia virus. This platform is used to develop vaccines that stimulate the immune system to fight off diseases.

Partnerships[edit]

Bavarian Nordic has established partnerships with several major pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, as well as government agencies, to further its research and development efforts. These include collaborations with Johnson & Johnson, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and the U.S. Department of Defense.
