Quanto Mais Vida, Melhor! is a Brazilian telenovela that aired on Rede Globo from November 22, 2021, to May 27, 2022. Created and written by Mauro Wilson, the show marks a unique entry in the realm of Brazilian television for its blend of comedy, drama, and elements of fantasy. The narrative revolves around four main characters - a businessman, a soccer star, a surgeon, and a dancer - who, after a tragic airplane accident, are given a second chance at life by Death, personified in the series as a character. However, this second chance comes with a catch: one of them is destined to die within a year.

Plot[edit]

The story begins with an airplane crash that kills all four protagonists: Guilherme Monteiro (played by Mateus Solano), a renowned surgeon; Flávia (played by Valentina Herszage), a young and talented dancer; Paulo (played by Guilherme Winter), a successful businessman; and Neném (played by Vladimir Brichta), a famous soccer player. They find themselves in a limbo-like state where they meet Death (played by A Maia). Death offers them a second chance to return to their lives, but with a condition: within one year, one of them will die for real.

As they return to their lives, the four protagonists are haunted by the knowledge of their impending doom and are compelled to reassess their priorities, mend broken relationships, and find redemption for their past mistakes. The narrative weaves through their personal journeys, exploring themes of love, redemption, and the value of life.

Cast and Characters[edit]

  • Guilherme Monteiro (Mateus Solano): A brilliant but arrogant surgeon who struggles to reconnect with his family and come to terms with his professional and personal failures.
  • Flávia (Valentina Herszage): A vibrant dancer whose career is on the brink of taking off. Her second chance at life reignites her passion for dance and leads her on a path of self-discovery.
  • Paulo (Guilherme Winter): A wealthy businessman facing a crisis in both his professional empire and his personal life. His journey is one of moral and ethical reevaluation.
  • Neném (Vladimir Brichta): A celebrated soccer player whose career has been marred by scandal. His return to life offers him an opportunity to restore his reputation and reconnect with his love for the game.

Reception[edit]

The show's unique premise and the portrayal of Death as a character were particularly praised for adding depth and a philosophical layer to the narrative.
