Pag (island)[edit]

Pag Island in winter

Pag is an island in the northern Adriatic Sea, located in Croatia. It is known for its unique landscape, rich cultural heritage, and traditional products such as Pag cheese and Pag lace. The island is part of the Zadar County and Lika-Senj County.

Geography[edit]

Pag is the fifth-largest island in the Adriatic Sea, with a surface area of approximately 284.56 square kilometers. The island is characterized by its long, narrow shape and a rugged, rocky terrain. The highest peak on the island is Sveti Vid, which rises to 348 meters above sea level.

The island is divided into two main regions: the northern part, which is more barren and rocky, and the southern part, which is more fertile and green. The island's coastline is indented with numerous bays, coves, and beaches.

Climate[edit]

Pag has a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The island is exposed to the bora wind, which can be quite strong, especially in the winter months.

Economy[edit]

The economy of Pag is primarily based on tourism, agriculture, and the production of traditional products. The island is famous for its Pag cheese, a hard, salty cheese made from the milk of the Pag sheep.
