Blood (journal)
Blood is a peer-reviewed medical journal published by the American Society of Hematology. It covers research in the field of hematology, which includes the study of blood, the blood-forming organs, and blood diseases. The journal publishes original research articles, review articles, and clinical studies related to hematology.
History[edit]
The journal was established in 1946 by William Dameshek, who served as the editor until 1955. It is currently published weekly, with an impact factor of 16.562 as of 2018. The current editor-in-chief is Bob Löwenberg.
Content[edit]
The journal publishes articles in all areas of hematology, including disorders of leukocytes, both benign and malignant, erythrocytes, platelets, coagulation, and vascular biology. It also publishes articles on basic, translational, and clinical investigations in hematology.
Abstracting and indexing[edit]
The journal is abstracted and indexed in PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus, and the Science Citation Index. According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2018 impact factor of 16.562.
