East Nusa Tenggara

East Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Timur, abbreviated as NTT) is a province of Indonesia located in the eastern part of the Lesser Sunda Islands. It consists of more than 500 islands, with the largest ones being Flores, Sumba, and West Timor, the latter of which shares a border with the country of Timor-Leste. The province's capital and largest city is Kupang, which is situated on the island of Timor.

Geography

East Nusa Tenggara is characterized by its diverse geography, ranging from savanna-covered plains to mountainous terrain and beautiful coastal areas. The province is home to several notable natural attractions, including the Komodo National Park, which is renowned for the Komodo dragon, the world's largest lizard. Economy

The economy of East Nusa Tenggara is primarily based on agriculture, with maize, rice, coffee, and cocoa among the key crops. Livestock farming, particularly of horses, cattle, and pigs, is also significant. The province's marine resources contribute to the fishing industry, while tourism is an increasingly important sector, driven by the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the region.

Challenges

East Nusa Tenggara faces several challenges, including limited infrastructure, water scarcity, and poverty. The province has one of the highest poverty rates in Indonesia, with many communities lacking access to clean water and basic services. Efforts are being made to improve living conditions, including investments in infrastructure and initiatives to promote sustainable tourism and agriculture.
