The University of the Philippines Diliman (UP Diliman) is a coeducational, public research university located in Quezon City, Philippines. It is the flagship campus and the largest constituent university of the University of the Philippines System.
History[edit]
The University of the Philippines was established on June 18, 1908, through Act No. 1870 of the First Philippine Legislature. UP Diliman was created as a result of the reorganization of the university in 1949, when the main campus was transferred from Manila to Diliman, Quezon City. The transfer was part of a broader plan to expand the university's facilities and accommodate a growing student population.
Campus[edit]
UP Diliman is situated on a 493-hectare campus in Quezon City. The campus is known for its lush greenery and iconic landmarks such as the Oblation statue, the Carillon Tower, and the Sunken Garden. The campus is also home to the Academic Oval, a popular spot for jogging and other recreational activities.
