Garden tool is a tool used for gardening purposes. These tools can be hand tools or power tools, and they are used for various tasks such as digging, pruning, weeding, and watering.

Types of Garden Tools[edit]

There are several types of garden tools, each designed for a specific task in the garden.

Hand Tools[edit]

Hand tools are small, manual tools that are used for tasks such as digging, weeding, and pruning. Some common types of hand tools include:

  • Spade: A spade is a tool with a broad, flat blade and a long handle. It is used for digging, lifting, and moving soil.
  • Trowel: A trowel is a small hand tool with a pointed, scoop-shaped metal blade and a handle. It is used for breaking up earth, digging small holes, especially for planting and weeding.
  • Pruning Shears: Pruning shears, also known as pruners, or secateurs, are a type of scissors for use on plants. They are strong enough to prune hard branches of trees and shrubs, sometimes up to two centimeters thick.

Power Tools[edit]

Power tools are larger, motorized tools that are used for bigger tasks such as mowing the lawn or trimming hedges. Some common types of power tools include:

  • Lawn Mower: A lawn mower is a machine utilizing one or more revolving blades to cut a grass surface to an even height.
  • Hedge Trimmer: A hedge trimmer, shrub trimmer, or bush trimmer is a gardening tool or machine used for trimming (cutting, pruning) hedges or solitary shrubs (bushes).

Maintenance of Garden Tools[edit]

Proper maintenance of garden tools can extend their life and make them easier to use. This includes cleaning the tools after use, sharpening blades as needed, and storing them in a dry place to prevent rust.
