Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Center
Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Center (MHMC) is a Haredi hospital located in Bnei Brak, Israel. Originally focused on maternity care, it has since expanded to become a general hospital. MHMC operates in accordance with halakha (Jewish law).
History[edit]
Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Center (MHMC) was established by Dr. Moshe Rothschild, who recognized the need for a hospital in close proximity to Bnei Brak. Concerned about the health risks posed by the distance to the nearest hospitals, Rothschild aimed to provide the Haredi residents of Bnei Brak and Gush Dan with a hospital that adheres to halakha. With the support of influential rabbis such as Yaakov Yisrael Kanievsky, Elazar Shach, and the Baba Sali, Rothschild founded the Hospital Association to bring his vision to life.
The planning and fundraising process took approximately 14 years, during which Rothschild raised around US$20 million from donors worldwide. During a visit to the United States, Rothschild received an open check from Menachem Mendel Schneerson, allowing him to fill in any amount he desired. Rothschild wrote down $1,000. Despite challenges, including warnings from the city engineer, Rothschild purchased a rocky tract of land designated for a municipal pool according to the zoning plan. He remained determined to establish the hospital.
MHMC opened its doors in 1990 and has since provided medical care to the Haredi community and the wider population. With 320 beds, the hospital offers a range of medical services while adhering to the principles of halakha. For more information, visit the official website of Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Center.
