Kraft Foods
Kraft Foods Inc. was an American multinational confectionery, food and beverage conglomerate. It marketed many brands in more than 170 countries. 12 of its brands annually earned more than $1 billion worldwide: Cadbury, Jacobs, Kraft, LU, Maxwell House, Milka, Nabisco, Oreo, Oscar Mayer, Philadelphia, Trident, and Tang. Forty of its brands were at least a century old.
History[edit]
The company was founded as National Dairy Products Corporation in 1923 by Thomas H. McInnerney. The company was listed on the New York Stock Exchange; its majority owner was the private equity firm, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR). The company operated in more than 170 countries and had 223,000 employees worldwide.
Brands[edit]
Kraft Foods owned many brands in different areas of the food industry. Some of the most well-known include:
- Cadbury: A British multinational confectionery company wholly owned by Kraft Foods since 2010.
- Jacobs: A brand of coffee that traces its beginnings to 1895 in Germany by Johann Jacobs.
- Maxwell House: A brand of coffee manufactured by a like-named division of Kraft Foods.
- Oreo: A brand of cookie usually consisting of two chocolate wafers with a sweet creme filling in between.
- Oscar Mayer: An American meat and cold cut production company owned by Kraft Foods.
