JWH-193
JWH-193 is a synthetic cannabinoid from the naphthoylindole family, which acts as a potent and selective CB2 receptor agonist with a Ki of 22nM, and has selectivity of around 200 times for CB2 over CB1 receptors. It was discovered by and named after, the researcher John W. Huffman.
Chemistry[edit]
JWH-193 is part of the naphthoylindole family of synthetic cannabinoids. It is a complex organic compound with the molecular formula C25H25NO2. The systematic (IUPAC) name of JWH-193 is 1-pentyl-3-(2-methoxyphenylacetyl)indole.
Pharmacology[edit]
JWH-193 acts as a potent and selective agonist for the peripheral cannabinoid (CB2) receptor, with a Ki of 22nM. It has around 200 times selectivity for CB2 over the central cannabinoid (CB1) receptor. This makes it a useful tool for scientific research into the function of the CB2 receptor, as it allows the receptor to be activated selectively without producing the psychoactive effects that are usually associated with activation of the CB1 receptor.
