Jean-Michel Cousteau

Jean-Michel Cousteau (born May 6, 1938) is a French oceanographic explorer, environmentalist, and producer who has dedicated his life to marine conservation. He is the son of the famous oceanographer Jacques Cousteau and Simone Melchior.

Early Life[edit]

Jean-Michel Cousteau was born in Toulon, France. He spent much of his early life accompanying his father on his oceanographic expeditions. His father's influence sparked his interest in the ocean and its conservation.

Career[edit]

In 1993, Cousteau founded the Ocean Futures Society, a non-profit marine conservation and education organization. The organization aims to educate the public about the importance of marine conservation and the ways in which it can be achieved.

Cousteau has produced numerous films and television series about the ocean and its inhabitants. His work has been recognized with several awards, including the Emmy Award and the Peabody Award.
