It was established in 1896 as the Park Seung-jik Store and has since grown into one of the largest companies in South Korea.

Doosan Corporation was founded in 1896 by Park Seung-jik as a small store selling consumer goods. The company expanded its operations over the years, entering the construction industry in 1937 and the energy sector in 1960. In 1973, the company changed its name to Doosan Corporation.
