University of Uyo[edit]
The University of Uyo is a federal university located in Uyo, the capital city of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. It was established in 1991 and has since grown to become one of the prominent institutions of higher learning in Nigeria.
History[edit]
The University of Uyo was originally established as the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) by the Cross River State government in 1983. However, following the creation of Akwa Ibom State from Cross River State in 1987, the university was taken over by the federal government and renamed the University of Uyo in 1991.
Campus[edit]
The university operates from multiple campuses within Uyo. The main campus, known as the Town Campus, is located in the heart of the city. The Permanent Site, which is still under development, is situated along Nwaniba Road. The university also has an annex campus at Abak.

The University of Uyo offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across various fields of study. The university is organized into several faculties, including:

The university is governed by a Vice-Chancellor, who is the chief executive officer. The Vice-Chancellor is supported by other principal officers, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellors, the Registrar, the Bursar, and the Librarian.
