Access Health CT is the official health insurance marketplace for the state of Connecticut, established to comply with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). It provides a platform for individuals, families, and small businesses to compare and purchase health insurance plans.

History

Access Health CT was created in response to the ACA, which required each state to establish a health insurance exchange or use the federal exchange. Connecticut opted to create its own state-based exchange, and Access Health CT was launched in 2013.

Functionality

Access Health CT allows users to:

• Compare different health insurance plans based on coverage and cost.
• Determine eligibility for financial assistance, such as premium tax credits and cost-sharing reductions.
• Enroll in health insurance plans during the annual open enrollment period or during special enrollment periods triggered by qualifying life events.

Eligibility

Residents of Connecticut who are U.S. citizens or lawfully present immigrants can use Access Health CT to purchase health insurance. Small businesses with up to 50 employees can also use the exchange to offer health insurance to their employees.
