Peter Oppenheimer is an American business executive, best known for his tenure as the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Apple Inc. from 2004 to 2014.

Early Life and Education

Peter Oppenheimer was born in California, United States. He earned a degree in Agricultural Economics from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and later obtained his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Santa Clara.

Career

Prior to joining Apple, Oppenheimer worked at Automatic Data Processing (ADP), Coopers and Lybrand, and the investment bank Goldman Sachs. He joined Apple in 1996 as controller for the Americas, and in 1997, he was promoted to Vice President and Worldwide Sales controller.

In 2004, Oppenheimer was appointed as Apple's CFO, succeeding Fred Anderson. During his tenure, he oversaw a period of significant growth for the company, including the launch of key products such as the iPhone and iPad. He was also instrumental in managing the company's financial health during the global economic crisis in 2008.

Oppenheimer retired from Apple in 2014 and was succeeded by Luca Maestri. Post-retirement, he has served on the boards of several companies, including Goldman Sachs, where he is a member of the Audit Committee.

Personal Life

Oppenheimer is known for his philanthropic activities, particularly in the field of education. He has made significant contributions to his alma mater, California Polytechnic State University, and has funded scholarships for students pursuing degrees in business and economics.
