The University of Oulu (Finnish: Oulun yliopisto) is a public university located in Oulu, Finland. It was founded on 8 July 1958 and is one of the largest universities in Finland, with approximately 13,000 students and 2,900 staff members. The university is known for its research and education in the fields of information technology, biotechnology, northern and environmental issues, and cultural identity.
History
The University of Oulu was established in 1958, making it one of the younger universities in Finland. The university's first faculties were the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Technology. Over the years, the university has expanded to include several other faculties and research units.
Campuses
The university operates primarily on two campuses: the Linnanmaa campus and the Kontinkangas campus.
