UC Irvine Medical Center is a major research hospital located in Orange, California, and is part of the University of California, Irvine (UCI) health system. It is the principal clinical facility for the UCI School of Medicine and serves as a teaching hospital for medical students, residents, and fellows.

History[edit]

The medical center was established in 1965, originally as the Orange County Medical Center. In 1976, the University of California acquired the facility, and it was renamed UC Irvine Medical Center. Over the years, the center has expanded its services and facilities, including the addition of a new hospital tower in 2009.
