Sofia Ionescu (25 April 1920 – 21 March 2008) was a pioneering Romanian neurosurgeon, recognized as one of the first female neurosurgeons in the world. Her career spanned over five decades, during which she made significant contributions to the field of neurosurgery.

Sofia Ionescu was born in Fălticeni, Romania, into a family that valued education and intellectual pursuits.
