Hermann Fehling (physician)

Hermann Fehling (14 July 1847 – 26 November 1925) was a notable German physician and obstetrician. He made significant contributions to the field of gynecology and obstetrics during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Early Life and Education[edit]
Hermann Fehling was born in Stuttgart, Kingdom of Württemberg, which is now part of modern-day Germany. He pursued his medical studies at several prestigious institutions, including the University of Tübingen, the University of Leipzig, and the University of Berlin. Fehling earned his medical degree in 1870.
Career[edit]
After completing his education, Fehling worked as an assistant to the renowned gynecologist Eduard Caspar Jacob von Siebold in Berlin. He later became a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Basel in Switzerland in 1887. In 1894, he accepted a position at the University of Strasbourg, where he continued his work until his retirement.
Fehling is best known for his research and advancements in the management of pregnancy and childbirth. He developed several techniques and procedures that improved the safety and outcomes of obstetric care. His work laid the foundation for many modern practices in the field.
