QBE Insurance Group Limited is an Australian-based general insurance and reinsurance company. It is one of the largest global insurers, with operations in 27 countries. The company is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange and is headquartered in Sydney, New South Wales.

QBE Insurance was founded in 1886 as the North Queensland Insurance Co. In 1921, it merged with the Bankers' and Traders' Insurance Company Limited, and in 1959, it merged with the Equitable Probate and General Insurance Co. Ltd. The name QBE was derived from the initials of these three companies: Queensland Insurance, Bankers' and Traders', and Equitable.
