Powder Mountain is a mountain and ski resort located in Weber County, Utah, in the United States. It is part of the Wasatch Range and is known for its extensive terrain and deep powder snow. The resort is one of the largest in North America by skiable acreage.

Geography

Powder Mountain is situated in the northern part of the Wasatch Range, which is a prominent mountain range in Utah. The resort covers an area of approximately 8,464 acres, offering a variety of terrain for skiing and snowboarding. The highest point of the mountain reaches an elevation of 9,422 feet (2,872 meters).

History

The area now known as Powder Mountain was originally used for sheep grazing. In the 1970s, the land was developed into a ski resort. Since then, it has grown in popularity and size, attracting visitors from around the world.

Ski Resort

Powder Mountain is renowned for its vast and varied terrain. The resort offers over 167 runs, with a mix of beginner, intermediate, and advanced trails. It also features several terrain parks and backcountry areas. The resort is known for its light, dry powder snow, which is ideal for skiing and snowboarding.

Lifts and Facilities

The resort is equipped with nine lifts, including both chairlifts and surface lifts. In addition to the lifts, Powder Mountain offers a range of facilities, including rental shops, dining options, and lodging.

Activities

In addition to skiing and snowboarding, Powder Mountain offers a variety of other winter activities. These include snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and cat skiing. During the summer months, the resort provides opportunities for mountain biking, hiking, and other outdoor activities.
