InXile Entertainment is an American video game development company based in Newport Beach, California. The company was founded in 2002 by Brian Fargo, who was previously the founder of Interplay Entertainment. InXile Entertainment is known for developing role-playing games (RPGs) and has a reputation for reviving classic game franchises.

History

InXile Entertainment was established in 2002 by Brian Fargo after he left Interplay Entertainment. The company's first project was The Bard's Tale, a reimagining of the classic 1985 game.

In 2012, InXile launched a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for Wasteland 2, a sequel to the 1988 game Wasteland. The campaign raised nearly $3 million, significantly surpassing its initial goal. Wasteland 2 was released in 2014 to positive reviews.

Following the success of Wasteland 2, InXile launched another Kickstarter campaign for Torment: Tides of Numenera, a spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment. The campaign was also highly successful, raising over $4 million. Torment: Tides of Numenera was released in 2017.

In 2018, InXile was acquired by Microsoft and became part of Xbox Game Studios. This acquisition provided the company with additional resources and support for future projects.
