Michael Schumacher (born 3 January 1969) is a retired German racing driver who competed in Formula One for Jordan, Benetton, Ferrari, and Mercedes. Schumacher is widely regarded as one of the greatest Formula One drivers of all time. He holds the records for the most World Championships (7), the most wins (91), and the most fastest laps (77), among others.

Early Life[edit]

Michael Schumacher was born in Hürth, North Rhine-Westphalia, West Germany. He began his racing career in karting at a young age and quickly progressed through the ranks of motorsport.

Formula One Career[edit]

Schumacher made his Formula One debut with Jordan in 1991. He was quickly signed by Benetton, where he won his first two World Championships in 1994 and 1995.

Ferrari Era[edit]

In 1996, Schumacher joined Ferrari, a team that had not won a World Championship since 1979. Schumacher played a crucial role in transforming Ferrari into a dominant force in Formula One, winning five consecutive World Championships from 2000 to 2004.

Mercedes Return[edit]

After a brief retirement, Schumacher returned to Formula One in 2010 with Mercedes. He raced for three seasons before retiring for good in 2012.

Schumacher is married to Corinna Betsch, and they have two children, Gina-Maria and Mick Schumacher, who is also a Formula One driver. Schumacher is known for his philanthropic efforts and has been involved in various charitable activities.
