It is the second oldest European settlement in the province, after Cape Town. The town is known for its Cape Dutch architecture, vineyards, and the prestigious Stellenbosch University.
History[edit]

Tourism also plays a significant role, with visitors attracted to the town's historical architecture, wine estates, and natural beauty.

The university is known for its research output and offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The presence of the university contributes significantly to the town's economy and cultural life.
