THC Ministry (also known as the Hawai'i Cannabis Ministry) is a religious organization that promotes the spiritual use of cannabis. The ministry was founded by Roger Christie in Hilo, Hawaii in 2000. The organization asserts that cannabis is a sacrament and an essential part of their religious practices.

History

The THC Ministry was established in 2000 by Roger Christie, a long-time advocate for the legalization of cannabis. Christie, who had previously been involved in various cannabis-related activism, founded the ministry to provide a legal defense for individuals who use cannabis as part of their religious practices. The ministry operates under the belief that the use of cannabis is protected under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, which guarantees the freedom of religion.

Beliefs and Practices

The THC Ministry believes that cannabis is a sacrament that can bring individuals closer to God. The ministry's practices include the use of cannabis in religious ceremonies, prayer, and meditation. Members of the ministry are encouraged to use cannabis as a tool for spiritual growth and healing.

The ministry provides its members with a "Sanctuary Kit," which includes a legal defense kit, a religious identification card, and other materials to support their religious use of cannabis. The ministry also offers guidance on how to use cannabis safely and responsibly.

Legal Issues

The THC Ministry has faced numerous legal challenges since its inception. In 2010, Roger Christie and several other members of the ministry were arrested and charged with cannabis-related offenses. Christie was accused of operating a large-scale cannabis distribution network under the guise of a religious organization. He was held in federal detention for several years before being released on bail.

Despite these legal challenges, the THC Ministry continues to advocate for the religious use of cannabis and provides support to its members who face legal issues related to their use of the plant.
