LongHorn Steakhouse is an American casual dining restaurant chain that is known for its steaks and Western-themed ambiance. The chain is a subsidiary of Darden Restaurants, Inc., which also owns other popular restaurant brands such as Olive Garden and Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen.

History[edit]

LongHorn Steakhouse was founded in 1981 by George McKerrow, Jr. and his father. The first restaurant was opened on Peachtree Street in Atlanta, Georgia. Initially, the restaurant struggled to attract customers, but it gained popularity after a snowstorm in 1982 brought in stranded motorists who were impressed by the food and service. This event marked the beginning of the restaurant's success.

In 2007, LongHorn Steakhouse was acquired by Darden Restaurants, Inc., which helped expand the brand significantly. As of 2023, there are over 500 LongHorn Steakhouse locations across the United States.

Menu[edit]

LongHorn Steakhouse is renowned for its variety of steaks, which are seasoned with a proprietary blend of spices and grilled to perfection. The menu also includes other American cuisine staples such as chicken, seafood, ribs, and salads. Popular menu items include the Outlaw Ribeye, Flo's Filet, and the LongHorn Chili.

The restaurant also offers a selection of appetizers, desserts, and beverages, including a full bar with a variety of cocktails, wines, and beers.

Ambiance[edit]

The decor of LongHorn Steakhouse is inspired by the American West, featuring rustic elements such as wooden beams, stone fireplaces, and Western-themed artwork. The ambiance is designed to be warm and inviting, making it a popular choice for family dinners, casual outings, and special occasions.

Community Involvement[edit]

LongHorn Steakhouse is committed to giving back to the communities it serves. The restaurant chain participates in various charitable activities and partnerships, including food donation programs and support for local organizations.
