General Hospital

General Hospital (often abbreviated as GH) is an American daytime soap opera. It is listed in Guinness World Records as the longest-running American soap opera in production and the second longest-running drama in television in American history after Guiding Light. The show premiered on the ABC television network on April 1, 1963.
History
General Hospital was created by Frank and Doris Hursley, a husband-and-wife team of writers. The show was originally set in a general hospital (hence the title) in an unnamed fictional city. In the 1970s, the city was named Port Charles, New York.
Plot
The series primarily centers around the lives and relationships of the residents of Port Charles. Over the years, the show has featured a wide array of characters, including doctors, nurses, mobsters, and business tycoons.
