Lambda Beta is a professional organization in the field of respiratory care. It is dedicated to promoting excellence in the field through the recognition of outstanding academic achievement and leadership among students, faculty, and practitioners.

History[edit]

Lambda Beta was established in 1986 by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC). The organization was created to honor and recognize individuals who have demonstrated academic excellence and leadership in the field of respiratory care.

Mission[edit]

The mission of Lambda Beta is to promote, recognize, and honor scholarship, scholarly achievement, service, and character among students, graduates, and faculty members of respiratory care programs. The organization aims to foster a sense of community and professional development among its members.

Membership[edit]

Membership in Lambda Beta is open to students, graduates, and faculty members of accredited respiratory care programs. To be eligible for membership, students must have completed a significant portion of their respiratory care program and must have demonstrated academic excellence. Faculty members and practitioners who have made significant contributions to the field of respiratory care may also be eligible for membership.

Activities[edit]

Lambda Beta engages in a variety of activities to support its mission, including:

  • Recognizing academic excellence through the awarding of scholarships and honors.
  • Providing opportunities for professional development and networking among members.
  • Supporting research and scholarly activities in the field of respiratory care.
  • Promoting the importance of respiratory care and the role of respiratory therapists in the healthcare system.

Chapters[edit]

Lambda Beta has chapters at various universities and colleges across the United States. Each chapter is responsible for promoting the mission of the organization at the local level and for recognizing the achievements of students and faculty members within their respiratory care programs.
