Fluidization
Fluidization is a process in which solids are caused to behave like a fluid by passing a fluid (liquid or gas) upward through a bed of solid particles. This phenomenon occurs when the fluid, under pressure, flows through a granular bed of solid particles at a sufficient velocity, causing the particles to be suspended within the fluid. The condition in which the solid particles are fully suspended and mixed by the fluid is known as the fluidized state.
