Dean Edell

Dean Edell (born March 26, 1941) is a retired American physician, author, and former radio talk show host. Edell's medical talk show was nationally syndicated and distributed by Premiere Radio Networks.

Early life and education

Edell was born in New York City. He completed his undergraduate studies at Rutgers University and received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in 1967. He completed his internship at Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco.

Career

Edell began his career as an ophthalmologist but later transitioned into the media industry. He started his radio career in 1979 at KGO (AM) in San Francisco. His show, The Dr. Dean Edell Show, was one of the first national radio shows to provide health and medical information to the public. The show was syndicated to over 400 stations and had an estimated audience of 2 million listeners.

In addition to his radio career, Edell has written several books, including "Eat, Drink and Be Merry" (1999) and "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Healthiness" (2004). He has also been a medical correspondent for ABC7 News in San Francisco.

Retirement

Edell announced his retirement from broadcasting in December 2010, citing a desire to spend more time with his family.

Personal life

Edell resides in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and five children.
