Brahmanbaria Medical College is a government-owned medical school located in Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh. It was established in 2010 and is affiliated with the University of Chittagong. The college offers a five-year course of study, leading to a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. A one-year internship after graduation is compulsory for all graduates. The degree is recognised by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council.

History

Brahmanbaria Medical College was established in 2010 by the Government of Bangladesh. The college was set up in an effort to provide quality medical education to the students of the Brahmanbaria region and to cater to the healthcare needs of the local population.

Campus

The campus of Brahmanbaria Medical College is located in the heart of Brahmanbaria city. The campus includes academic buildings, a library, and a student hostel. The college is attached to a 500-bed hospital, which serves as the teaching hospital for the students.

Academics

Brahmanbaria Medical College offers a five-year course leading to a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. The academic program is divided into three phases. The first phase lasts for 1.5 years and includes basic science subjects. The second phase lasts for 2 years and includes para-clinical subjects. The final phase lasts for 1 year and includes clinical subjects.

Affiliation

The college is affiliated with the University of Chittagong. The university conducts the final professional MBBS examination at the end of five years and awards the degree.

Recognition

The degree offered by Brahmanbaria Medical College is recognised by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council, the professional regulatory body for medicine and dentistry in Bangladesh.
