History

COCIR was established in 1959 as a non-profit association. It was initially focused on the medical imaging industry, but has since expanded to include radiotherapy, health ICT and electromedical industries. The organization's name, COCIR, stands for the French "Comité Européen de Coordination de l'Industrie Radiologique, Electromédicale et d'Informatique de Santé", which translates to "European Coordination Committee of the Radiological, Electromedical and Healthcare IT Industry" in English.

Mission

COCIR's mission is to promote a harmonized approach to the development and implementation of healthcare policies across Europe. It aims to improve patient care and outcomes through the effective use of medical technology and information systems. COCIR advocates for the adoption of harmonized standards and regulatory frameworks that facilitate the integration of new technologies into healthcare systems.

Activities

COCIR engages in a wide range of activities to achieve its mission. These include policy advocacy, standardization efforts, market intelligence, and public affairs. It also organizes events and workshops to facilitate dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders in the healthcare, IT and telecommunications industries.

Membership

COCIR's membership includes some of the leading companies in the medical imaging, radiotherapy, health ICT and electromedical industries. These companies are based in Europe, but operate globally. COCIR also has national trade associations as members, representing the interests of smaller companies in the industry.
