Strafford, Pennsylvania
Strafford, Pennsylvania is a community located in the United States, specifically in the state of Pennsylvania. It is part of the Tredyffrin Township, in Chester County and Radnor Township in Delaware County.
History[edit]
Strafford was originally settled by Welsh Quakers in the late 17th century, and its name is derived from the English county of Staffordshire. The community was a significant site during the American Revolutionary War, with the Battle of the Clouds taking place nearby.
Geography[edit]
Strafford is located in the southeastern part of Pennsylvania, near the city of Philadelphia. It is characterized by a mix of suburban and rural landscapes, with a number of historical buildings and sites.
Education[edit]
The community is served by the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District, which includes the highly ranked Conestoga High School. There are also several private schools in the area, including the Woodlynde School.
Transportation[edit]
Strafford is well-connected by road and rail. The Strafford Station on the SEPTA Paoli/Thorndale Line provides regular train services to Philadelphia and other parts of the state. Major roads include the U.S. Route 30 and Pennsylvania Route 252.

Several notable individuals have hailed from or resided in Strafford, including Owen J. Roberts, a former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, and Daniel Truhitte, an actor best known for his role in The Sound of Music.
