N-Ethylbuphedrone (also known as NEB and N-Ethylbutylone) is a psychoactive drug and research chemical that belongs to the substituted cathinone family. It is a derivative of buphedrone, a stimulant that is a type of cathinone, a naturally-occurring stimulant found in the Khat plant.

Chemistry

N-Ethylbuphedrone is a synthetic compound that belongs to the class of organic compounds known as phenethylamines. It is structurally related to buphedrone, with the addition of an ethyl group on the nitrogen atom. The chemical formula of N-Ethylbuphedrone is C13H19NO.

Pharmacology

The exact mechanism of action of N-Ethylbuphedrone is not fully understood. However, it is believed to act as a norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor (NDRI), similar to other substituted cathinones. This means it increases the levels of the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and dopamine in the brain by inhibiting their reuptake into neurons.

Effects

The effects of N-Ethylbuphedrone can vary greatly depending on the dose, the individual's physiology, and the method of administration. Common effects reported by users include stimulation, increased energy, euphoria, and increased sociability. However, negative side effects can include anxiety, paranoia, insomnia, and heart palpitations.

Legal Status

The legal status of N-Ethylbuphedrone varies by country. In some countries, it is classified as a controlled substance, while in others it is legal to possess for personal use. It is important to note that the legality of N-Ethylbuphedrone can change rapidly, so it is always recommended to check the current laws in your jurisdiction before possessing or using this substance.
