Yves Pouliquen

Yves Pouliquen (born 17 November 1931) is a French ophthalmologist known for his research in corneal transplantation and cataract surgery. He was elected to the Académie française in 2001.

Early life and education

Pouliquen was born in Mortain, Manche, France. He studied medicine at the University of Paris, where he specialized in ophthalmology.

Career

Pouliquen has made significant contributions to the field of ophthalmology. He developed new techniques for corneal transplantation and cataract surgery, which have improved the success rate of these procedures. He has also conducted research on the causes and treatment of various eye diseases.

In addition to his medical practice, Pouliquen has held several academic positions. He was a professor of ophthalmology at the University of Paris and the director of the Institut de la Vision in Paris. He has also served as the president of the French Society of Ophthalmology and the International Council of Ophthalmology.
