TEPHINET (Training Programs in Epidemiology and Public Health Interventions Network) is a global network of Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETPs). Established in 1997, TEPHINET is the only global network of field epidemiology training programs, working to protect all people from public health threats.

History

TEPHINET was established in 1997 as a professional network of Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETPs). The network was created to strengthen international public health capacity by developing field-ready public health professionals.

Mission

The mission of TEPHINET is to strengthen international public health capacity by developing field-ready public health professionals. This is achieved through the training and mentoring of field epidemiologists in applied epidemiology and public health interventions.

Activities

TEPHINET supports its member programs through a variety of activities, including:

  • Providing technical assistance to member programs
  • Facilitating the exchange of scientific information among members
  • Advocating for resources and sustainable program development
  • Promoting best practices in applied epidemiology training

Member Programs

TEPHINET comprises 71 member programs in more than 100 countries, representing over 14,000 field epidemiology trainees and graduates. These programs are typically hosted by ministries of health or other governmental agencies and are supported by a variety of international partners.
