List of Infectious Diseases, Causative Agents, and Vaccines

Infectious diseases are disorders caused by organisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites. Many organisms live in and on our bodies and are normally harmless or even helpful, but under certain conditions, some organisms may cause disease. Some infectious diseases can be passed from person to person. Vaccination is one of the most effective ways to prevent diseases. This article lists various infectious diseases, their causative agents, and the vaccines available to prevent or treat them.

Bacterial Diseases

Tuberculosis

  • Causative Agent: Mycobacterium tuberculosis

Measles

Parasitic Diseases

  • Causative Agent: Plasmodium spp.
